We make financial decisions all the time. But most of us have had very little formal training in managing our own finances. Money management is up there with reading, writing and arithmetic as a top life skill, yet it isn't commonly taught in schools. But it should be.
Since I left home for college back in the '80's, I've been managing my own money. When I got married, I became my family's primary money manager. That's been my job for nearly 20 years. I'm mathematically challenged, but I keep good notes. And I'm willing to do the job.
About seven years ago, I started seriously researching money management and finances. My goal was to figure out how to improve my family's finances in the short and long terms.
Over the years, I've done a few things right. I've also made most of the mistakes that anyone can make. And I've learned a ton. It turns out I have a lot of opinions. So I've decided to share.
